I’m excited to share with you guys a project I worked on this winter which airs this Sunday on HGTV – it’s season 2 of Brother vs. Brother! Last year I had the pleasure of working on season 1 and getting to know the Scott brothers who’ve since become two of my best styling clients and good friends. If you haven’t seen any of their three shows on HGTV (Property Brothers and Buying and Selling are the other two), be warned: you will instantly become addicted and not be able to tare yourself away from a marathon. The two are so infectious and endearing, it’s impossible not to love them, even more so in person. So in honor of the season premier, I thought it might be fun to share with you some key pieces that represent their style…
First we have Drew, the realtor, aka the dapper one. Drew cleans up nice pretty much everyday on Property Brothers and Buying and Selling, wearing a lot of suits (I still need to count his ties – it would be a staggering number). On Brother vs. Brother, I get to dress him in some more casual looks since he actually steps in and gets his hands dirty from time to time. But my favorite look to dress him in is halfway between casual and a full-on suit, layering everyday pieces (he loves colored jeans by AG and Paige) with some more elevated ones like a blazer and slick shoes. A lot of nights after a 12-hour day on set, he’d cheerily jet off to play in a basketball game immediately after, while I’d be too exhausted to do anything other than come straight home to pj’s.

Next up is Jonathan. He’s the contractor, aka the rugged one. You’ll often see him in Diesel jeans, plaid shirts (ideally with double pockets and/or epaulets), and his tool belt. He’ll usually rock some construction boots on demo days, but a great pair of brown leather ones like these Aldens look great with everything in his wardrobe. His off-camera style sometimes is a bit more elevated, and he loves a good solid leather jacket. Both brothers have a thing for loud socks, so at any given time we’d have a pile of about 30 pair of Happy Socks in the trailer. A little known fact about Jonathan is that he’s actually a really talented magician, so sometimes he’d wow the crew with a card trick or two during downtime.
Be sure to tune in to Brother vs. Brother this Sunday on HGTV! And check out the fun behind the scenes web series with their brother JD! Lots of fun to be had.
